The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. Not much of interest for me. I enjoyed the first Hotel Transylvania in 3D enough to rewatch it a couple of times, but glossing over the plot of this third one left me totally cold and uninterested. And I'm not sure any 3D disc version will be available for it.

    Thanks, Mike!

  2. Thanks, Mike!

Just the 4K release of Hook for me. I love the hell out of that movie, but I never picked it up on Blu-Ray for whatever reason. It'll be nice to retire the DVD.

just a quick note. Apparently The 100: Season 5 has been pushed back to Oct 30

I was suspicious of the October 9 date since it started circulating, because it's still not up on the WBShop website and usually the Warner Archive TV releases show up on there a few weeks before they come out.

  3. Thank you, Mike!

I have Eighth Grade coming from Amazon this week, which I think is one of the year's best movies so far. If you missed it in theaters, I would highly recommend checking it out. I was expecting to pay $19.99 for that so am especially pleased with the price drop to $16.99.

  4. Skyscraper 3D, The Unnamable, Malevolence, and Malevolence 3: Killer are all pre-ordered.

Will get Malevolence 2: Bereavement when the price drops to match the others. Not sure why that one title in the trilogy is $5 more than the other two.

Seems really obvious to me (and I actually had this thought when putting the grid together this week!). 😀

Seems bizarre to me. If anything, one would think the third film, which is a first-time new release, would be the higher price. Parts one and two are both catalog titles that were originally released on DVD years ago.

Amazon is showing the 4K artwork for Hook, but listing it as a Blu-Ray. How confident should I be that it's the UHD release?

There isn't a 2018 BD only release so I'm guessing the picture is the correct item at Mike's link.
The ASIN points to UPC 043396541986 which is the 4KUHD.
I'd say pretty good chance it's the UHD

    .
Walmart does have it for 19.96 and in stock at a lot of stores (about 3/4 of my closest stores according the Brickseek inventory checker), so maybe pick it up directly to be 100% sure depending on how close you are.
A few BBY seem to have it in store though none of mine within 50 miles have it listed.

Thanks for the heads up. I tried doing a site to store pickup, but Walmart.com doesn't appear to have the title listed at all. Curiouser and curiouser.

For folks looking, at least they should be able to check local inventory by plugging in your zip

I wonder why they pulled the web listing even though it's in a lot of stores. I bet that means they couldn't even order it to the store
or as a ship to home type item even from internal computers. i've never done that at Walmart.

I'm not sure if you are in Albany proper, but some of the local stores do appear to have shelf stock. Renssellaer store has 6, Troy has some, Glemont and Schenec. storesand if you can 100% believe the site.

  10. I saw the Hook 4K at my Walmart yesterday.

At my store, these catalog 4K titles are usually mixed in with the other titles in the 4K section, not on the endcap with the week's new releases. In addition to Hook, I saw Evil Dead and Halloween 4K's.

BrickSeek said the Glenmont store had three copies in stock, and sure enough, when I got there there were three copies in stock. Thanks for all of the info, David.

Still really weird that it's not listed on Walmart.com, even as sold out.

  12. It seems some of these items that maybe are meant to be Release week or 2-3 week items have done this recently.
A couple other 4K discs I've seen disappear off the website after the Pre-order phase on/near release day and then they're
gone out of the store much faster than they should be selling out.

Glad you were able to cherrypick you item

This finally dropped in price this week, but for some reason before I ordered I double-checked my DVD Profiler and found I already have the original release on blu-ray. It must have been one of the first blu-ray discs I bought. It's not the director's cut, but it does include all the deleted scenes as a bonus feature, so it's probably not worth a double-dip.

I was thinking I'd only ever seen the first two on DVD, but I guess Bereavement did come out on blu previously.
